April brings blossoms and warmer weather, and Auld Alliance Gallery is celebrating spring with a special painting demonstration by Nashville artist Jennifer Padgett.

Jennifer Padgett is an artist noted for her strong sense of light and color. Her oil paintings are rendered in a loose and painterly manner that convey the vitality and essence of a moment. From Diebenkorn to Vermeer, Jennifer loves and is influenced by a wide range of painters.

Padgett works exclusively in oils. She says, “I like the tactile, buttery substance; I love the smells; I love how the paint responds to you—how you put it on, the depth of pressure, the movement of your arm. If you stand when you paint, it becomes a dance.” Padgett enjoys travel and her paintings reflect her love of France and the café scene. The colors and moods of ordinary vignettes of everyday life inspire her.

She graduated in 1995 from Lipscomb University with a bachelors degree in fine art. Widely collected, her paintings are found in many private and corporate collections such as Ingram Industries and Vanderbilt University.

Special thanks to artist, Pete Sullivan, vocalist, Kirstie Lane, and Fox & Vixen for our March show.
